Greener projects on the horizon!

The leading construction specification platform, NBS has published its most recent study on greener projects, demonstrating that the number of them is growing over time. The platform has released their most recent study on environmentally friendly projects, including those aiming to achieve net zero or increase sustainability.

According to the report, there has been a 13% increase in green projects in the past two years.

The industry is seeing an increase in the number of greener projects.

Seven out of ten construction projects now have sustainability goals, according to the NBS report, as the push towards net zero increases.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Sustainable Futures Report collaborated on the research project. It discovered that, in contrast to 2022's 49%, 64% of the 600 industry professionals it polled had worked on a Net Zero project in the previous year.

Construction companies continue to face challenges in their efforts to achieve sustainability.

Cost was cited by respondents as the primary reason why achieving net zero is still challenging. Previously, it was a result of a lack of customer demand, which reflected the change in the industry's and the surrounding community's attitudes towards sustainability.

Cost is still the biggest obstacle, which is not surprising given the stagnating economy, rising living expenses and inflation, and rising building material prices. Sustainability is beneficial for profits down the line.
