In June, ahead of the general election, the value of planning approvals increased to a much-needed $9.6 billion (roughly £7.5 billion). May saw a decline in planning applications as the industry fell into a state of stasis before the election. The application value decreased by 12% overall from May 2023 to its lowest point in more than 18 months. The two highest value sectors, residential and infrastructure, continued to be squeezed, declining 16% and 6% from the previous month, respectively.
