Finance & Operations Director

Hertfordshire Based

£60,000 to £65,000 Basic plus Car, Pension, Bonus benefits

Our client is a growing private equity backed SME manufacturing company based in Hertfordshire. The Board recognise there is good potential to grow and increase profits, hence increasing the Enterprise value for a future potential sale event. The FD would participate in this future process, and get substantial reward if they have improved the company value.

Before a sale can happen, they need this highly commercial Finance Director to both manage the day – day finance function, but also lead some key strategic initiatives such as supplier relationships and contracts to decrease costs and improve supplier terms and rebates. The position is a key part of the senior management team responsible for increasing profits, improving the team, better data, systems, MI and processes. We would consider both dynamic capable Managers looking to “make a name for themselves and gain recognition at a SMT level”, or a proven Commercial or FD. We would be open to interim’s who can prove business impact and interested in permanent employment as part of a team.

The Person

The suitable candidate will be a qualified accountant with excellent commercial and contractual ability. It is essential to be determined and resilient, able to drive change and looking for management autonomy. Ideally you will have a manufacturing sector background and understand product/ material supply and contract management.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for increasing profit and enterprise value

  • Leading the finance function and oversee all internal reporting and accounting.

  • Implement better data, systems, MI and process improvements.

  • Oversee and negotiate key material supplier contracts, improved terms and mitigate risks

  • Manage a small finance team including objective setting, outputs and appraisals

  • Oversee payroll, cash, Bank relationships, insurances and terms.

  • Liaise with tax accountants and prepare the company tax return with supporting documentation.

  • Oversee the company pension scheme, company life insurance scheme, private health scheme and any other benefits that might arise.
