LOCATION – Based North East UK with some UK travel
Salary – c. £65,000 to £80,000 plus car allowance and package

Our client is a technology innovation partner which helps support the future development of the UK process manufacturing industry. They help large and small companies to develop and commercialise the next generation of manufactured products, processes and services.
The role
To lead the development of a specific Chemical Formulation team, nurturing a business-winning culture to achieve revenue, profit and retention targets. You will identify, develop and submit compelling funding bids to maintain a sustainable sales pipeline within your technology area.
Main duties and responsibilities

To provide functional leadership to a Business Development team to identify and translate funding and private sales opportunities to profitable business wins

To drive Collaborative Research and Development and private income generation activity across academia, government and industry

To lead structured sales planning, execution and reporting in collaboration with the Strategic Marketing and Bid/Proposal Development team

To create a strong business focus to deliver revenue and profit growth to the company and capability development to UK industry, particularly within the North East England region

To coach Business Development Managers to recognise when and how to introduce relevant technology colleagues into the sales process to help create solutions to client needs and to close deals

To communicate company value propositions to market, ensuring that the techno-economic offering aligns with clients’ business drivers and translates into winning opportunities

To work in partnership with Project teams to upsell projects and secure repeat business
Personal requirements
-
Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) within a direct or similar scientific subject area
-
A passion for science and innovation, and developing organisations products and processes in the formulation , chemical, additives/ ingredients sector.

Significant knowledge and experience within the Formulation, Chemical sector, Biologics or Industrial Biotechnology industries.

Significant leadership in business/collaboration development
-
A record of creating high performing teams and effective stakeholder management.

Practical experience of public funding mechanisms to support R&D and innovation
